Nestled among the outdoor spaces in Twickenham, is the garden of York House & in it a remarkable sculptural tableau within a rock garden. Consisting of a cascade, pool and oceanides in white Carrara marble, The statues, in livery and unconventional poses, were carved in the Roman studio of Orazio Andreoni at the turn of the nineteenth century.
Restore London carried out cleaning and restoration to the statues direct for the client with works consisting of scaffolding, pool drainage biocide treatment to remove the build-up of moss and algae. This was followed by intermittent nebulous spray and superheated steam cleaning. The results happily brought these stunning statues back to their former glory, ready to be enjoyed once again.
