Snowdon Aviary London Zoo

Restore London’s latest project with CBRE, Ridge Engineers and Purcell Architects is the long-anticipated refurbishment of London Zoo’s Grade II* listed Snowdon Aviary. Restore London were instrumental in restoring Cedric Price’s famous enclosure on time to welcome a troop of Eastern black and white colobus monkeys. The structure underwent a multi-million-pound refurbishment including a long, rectangular monkey house three times the size of the original proposal. It can be divided in half should the monkeys decide to split into two groups.

Restore London’s works included surveying & testing, cleaning, as well as  repairs to the heritage concrete along with works to the staircases, retaining walls, base plates, & expansion joints.

As the original life span of the structure had well exceeded the original 30-year intention, it was placed on Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register and  we are delighted to be involved in saving another piece of history.
