Senate House

At 210ft high, Senate House was London’s first skyscraper & one of the most beautiful, distinctive buildings of the 1930s. Sited in the heart of Bloomsbury in Central London, Senate House is the administrative centre of the University of London.

Restore London won the cleaning & restoration contract to external parts in competitive tender & went on to successfully complete the works to the highest standard.

First phase works included scaffolding, cleaning trials/samples followed by a mason’s clean to Portland stone & specialist cleaning to granite, repairs to stonework, re-pointing, works to windows, railings & downpipes.

The Second Phase works have now been ongoing for the last 4 years, & involve sequential replacement of Travertine marble throughout the entire building; depending on location, this is carried out of hours.
