54 Cornhill

Restore London were delighted to have been appointed as façade specialist on this wonderful Victorian Grade II Listed structure. Much historic legend surrounds the “Devils of Cornhill” building with the trio of malevolent demons perched ominously upon the cornices of the building. As part of the cleaning and restoration works; Restore London’s team undertook shelter coating, replacement of lost features and numerous repairs to the entire façade including important remedial works to those famous grotesque terracotta sculptures.

Legend has it that that a disgruntled Architect who constructed the original building admonished creative revenge on the neighboring church whose Vicar created a terrible fuss and lengthy dispute over a land encroachment. The resultant terracotta devils were the Architects parting gesture!
